DOING IT FOR THE CULTURE: ACCORDING TO WAX & WONDER BRAND AMBASSADORS

For Black History Month, we asked a few of our Brand Ambassadors to shine a spotlight on someone, who is either #doingitfortheculture or has heavily influenced their professional space. Funny enough, they each came up with a woman, which is perfect considering International Women's Day is around the corner.

Our Ambassadors are storytellers and social entrepreneurs, who are making an impact in their local U.S communities and throughout the Black Diaspora.

Here's what Tyler said:

"As a woman of color looking to be in the beauty industry, it was hard to find people that looked like me as forms of inspiration. That is until I discovered Jackie Aina!

Here's what Christine said:

"As a health care professional I am proud to know that we had African-American women like MARY Mahoney paving the way for us in the health care field.  She was the first African American to study and work as a professionally trained nurse in the United States, graduating in 1879.

Here's what Natasha said:

"My fate was sealed junior year of high school. I had a Business Economics teacher who saw my untapped passion and nurtured my love for numbers. I mean I had always done well in all the Math classes I had taken but this was something different, something SPECIAL. It was bookkeeping, bank account balancing, debits and credits, and playing with other folks money (🤑🤑) and I LOVED IT.

So for this Black History Month tribute I’ve chosen to shout out Mrs. Mary T Washington, CPA. She was the first African American woman to become a certified public accountant

"Do you sometimes feel that you have to minimize your shine? I've had to. 😏 Oh, I could tell you stories. But then I virtually met @badassboz and she confirms that it's okay to be me, just as I am - unapologetic!

Let me introduce to some and welcome to others one of my #WC's Bozoma Saint John @badassboz.
